UNDERVALUED AND UNHEARD
Find Out Why Tallahassee Firefighters Are Leaving Our City
Our Firefighters have been without a contract since October 1st of last year. While other groups have been heard by the City and their pay concerns addressed, the Firefighters have returned to the negotiating table time and again seeking fair treatment.

All while new recruits and new employees watch and wait,
and consider applying elsewhere.

COMPARED ACROSS FLORIDA
Our Firefighters, at almost every rank, are struggling to keep up. Other departments around the state are paying more and working their firefighters less. These are the departments Tallahassee competes with for the best and bravest!
COMPARED IN THE BIG BEND
Even across one of the poorest regions of our state, our Firefighters are among the lowest paid. During a year when state and city workers alike have received 5% raises and other Local departments have adjusted their pay to recruit and keep firefighters, our City has repeatedly pushed our firefighters away.

DISASTROUS EFFECTS
For years our fire department has done more with less: less pay than similar departments, less manpower than recommended by NFPA, and all while working more hours in a year than similar departments..
Now that there are less firefighters entering the field our department is facing a serious problem. With firefighters no longer willing to work 72+ hours/week every week, the department must hire more manpower in a market where they cannot compete.
